Historien om Blänk började för drygt ett år sedan då en av världens största bloggar för elektronisk musik, New York bloggen, Palms out Sounds upptäckte bandets udda blandning av elektropop och lappländsk skoterkultur. Sedan dess har Blänks tre singlar och album fortsatt sprida sig över hela världen, via en rad stora bloggar i länder som Ryssland, Australien, Colombia och USA och även gett Blänk ett par mindre hits på radio i Sverige och några fantastiska klubbgig.

Debutplattan “You’ve never been to Sápmi” släpptes digitalt över hela världen i augusti och videon till första hitlåten ”Shirt off” fick över 300 000 views på video sidor som youtube och vimeo redan första månaden.

…bra jobbat för ett gäng debutanter från Ryssbält, några mil utanför Luleå. Nu åker Blänk tillbaka till studion i lappland och tar farväl av debutplattan med ett sista släpp, en cover av en av världens mest kända raplåtar alla kategorier – “Juicy” av Notorious B.I.G.

Defying its humble beginnings as the lo-fi solo project of Icelandic singer/multi-instrumentalist Sindri Már Sigfússon, Seabear has morphed into a rambling experimental/indie/folk septet. Joining Sigfússon (whose unassisted musings are now released via his Sin Fang Bous moniker which just made the American Rolling Stone call him the “Icelandic Beck”) are Gudbjörg Hlin Gudmundsdottir, Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir, Halldór Ragnarsson, Örn Ingi Ágústsson, Kjartan Bragi Bjarnason and Sóley Stefánsdóttir – all working in a wide range of solo-, band- (Kimono, Skakkamanage) and visual arts-projects in their own right. For their second full length LP, We Built A Fire, all members of the band had equal input in the writing process, thereby creating Seabear’s first real collective album.

While Sigfússon’s unmistakable voice remains the centerpiece on We Built A Fire, the new joint approach is reflected in songs like “I build you a fire” where the whole band joins in on vocals. While retaining their signature simplistic and addictive naive indie folk (“Wooden Teeth”, “Lion Face Boy”), the band have branched out stylistically to include elements of straight up indie rock (“Softship”), intense balladry (“Cold Summer”) and even some country twang (“Leafmask”).

There is something instantly familiar about Seabear’s songs that resonates with fans and critics alike. Despite scant promotion and airplay behind their debut album release, 2007′s The Ghost That Carried Us Away, their songs and animated videos were a social media hit generating millions of plays. It’s a very Icelandic DIY setup – their music is recorded by the band in their basement studio with its apple carton covered walls. All artwork and videos are hand made by Sindri’s partner and band mate Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir.

We Built A Fire will be released alongside the 6-song While The Fire Dies EP in March 2010 on Morr Music. A limited edition 7”+T-Shirt-package will be available this Christmas. The band will hit the road in Spring 2010 playing the Eurosonic, By:Larm and SxSW Festivals followed by tours all over Europe, the US and Canada.

Delorentos come storming out of the traps with a new album,You Can Make Sound released on their own DeloRecords label. Having already given fans of the band an early taster of the album at the beginning of 2009 (in the shape of a free download of the title track, “You Can Make Sound”).
Delorentos’ second album follows on the heels of their 2007 Top 10 debut In Love With Detail and demonstrates a leap forward in the maturity of the band’s songwriting while retaining the power and accessibility of their pin-point melodies.
It seals the band’s commitment to continue with music after a two year period of trials, tribulations and uncertainty caused them to announce (and quickly rescind) earlier in the year that the band would be breaking up. Suffice it to say that the music fans are all the richer for the band’s recommitment to the cause!

Svenska LITTLE DRAGON gästar på två spår,“To Binge” och “Empire Ants” på Gorillaz nya album “Plastic Beach”. Albumet släpps den 8e mars.

Kissy Sell Out is a music producer, radio host and electro DJ from Essex, England.
He is also a designer and has studied at Central Saint Martins Art College in London.

Kissy Sell Out says following about his debut album called Youth:

Youth is really personal and I’m so proud of it. On the one hand there are lots of anecdotes from my childhood like ‘Essex Boy’ or ‘This Kiss’, which is a straight ahead pop song about when I was 14 and kissed one of my mate’s girlfriends — actually the guy who had the DJ Hype CD! It was a horrible experience.

But then there’s other stuff that reflects what was happening while writing it. It was hardcore and it took over our lives, spending 14 hours in the studio. ‘Bethnal Green Café’ is about our girlfriends at the time turning on us. They just thought we were being musicians, skiving and not getting real jobs, but what was really happening was Dan and I were fighting so hard to stick up for our vision in the face of a major label — literally men in suits trying to tell us what to do. ‘Go Explode’ is also a bit about that, I was under pressure and I wished the world would leave us alone.

The title track really sums up the album. Even though it’s an instrumental it reminds me of being 16 and partying with my friend Rob and having to run across town to make it home for 12am curfew. We ran and ran and managed to get back and I lay there on my lawn, so exhausted, looking at the stars and I remember thinking, fucking hell, I’m so lucky to have had experiences like this. I was thinking about that when I came up with ‘Youth’s’ spacy synth melody. The first half of the song is more like my remixes, playing with tempo, but it encapsulates my ambitions for the album by being the most melodically complicated thing I’ve ever done.

One of the things that will always keep me from getting a big ego is what I’m known for doing is actually me. My radio show is the music I listen to on my iPod and the album is about my life, so if people don’t like it, it’s like they don’t like me.
It’s tough but it keeps things in perspective.

Southampton’s Band Of Skulls release their debut album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey through You Are Here. The 11-track album was produced, recorded and mixed by Ian Davenport (Supergrass, Badly Drawn Boy), recorded at Radioheads Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire and mixed at the House of Blues studio in Los Angeles – it perfectly captures the band’s aptitude for heartbreaking duets and sun-kissed, Wall of Sound harmonies.

The band scored an iTunes ‘Single Of The Week’ in 2009 with the track I Know What I Am, which was downloaded by over 400 000 music fans worldwide – an unprecedented success for a previously unknown band. Fresh from playing a string of UK dates, including Club NME at Koko and Hoxton’s Stag & Dagger festival, the band are currently touring the UK and will return to the US in March for a tour with The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band has received glowing reviews for their live shows this past summer, most notably at Suffolk’s Latitude Festival, where they were the pick of the Guardian’s ‘Must See’ new bands.

The three members of Band Of Skulls, Russell Marsden (guitar & vocals), Emma Richardson (bass & vocals) & Matt Hayward (drums), first met at college and soon discovered that having two lead singers and three songwriters in a band was always going to present unlimited possibilities. The band quickly established themselves in both the music and art community with a series of culturally inspired club nights in Southampton, London and further a field in Moscow & Tokyo.

“Jag och Klas gick och kollade på Gnarls Barkley när de spelade i stockholm juli 2008. Efter giget träffade vi Cee Lo och snackades vid lite helt kort. Det framkom att han kände till och gillade Teddybears och vi sa sådär som man ofta gör: “Vi måste verkligen göra nåt ihop nån gång!”Vi började höras via mail lite då och då, skickade låtar fram och tillbaka men det hände inte sådär värst mycket under en ganska lång tid. Men i slutet av förra året fick vi en vokal som Cee Lo hade gjort på en av våra låtar och som lät helt övergrym. Han sjöng om sin katt Cho Cha som är hans bästa vän i världen.

Vi packade väskan och åkte till Atlanta där Cee Lo bor. Cee Lo blev mycket glatt överraskad när vi plötsligt en dag dök upp på hans förstutrapp och vi drog tillsammans ner till hans studio för att göra klart låten redan samma dag. När vi kom fram och Cee Lo spelade upp låten för oss, visade det sig att han helt på eget initiativ bjudit in gamla new wave legenderna the B52′s att sjunga på låten också. Cindy Wilson & Kate Pierson körade “Miaoow” i refrängerna och
legenden Fred Schneider hade lagt på en vers med sin trademark-konstiga vit mans rap.

Otroligt kul och stort tyckte vi förstås. Vi gjorde en låt till tillsammans av bara farten som förmodligen kommer att hamna på Cee Lo’s nästa platta och sedan åkte vi för att fira till den legendariska klubben the Claremont Lounge som tydligen var Cee Lo och hans polare’s favorit-ställe. Det visade sig vara en ganska rejält sunkig punkrock bar/strippkklubb där Patrik Arve underhöll oss med att sjunga karaoke till gamla Sex Pistols-låtar till stängningsdags.”

Då sitter jag och skriver något som jag fram tills för en dag sen aldrig i min vildaste fantasi trodde att jag skulle behöva göra.

Nåväl, jag heter Daniel Gilbert och ända sen min gamle far slog in mitt musikaliska pannben med Oscar Peterson Trio har jag trott på, och förstått att musik i alla dess olika former berör och påverkar de flesta människor (åtminstone de med en själ). Då det var det tillsynes enklaste sättet att kommunicera med folk, började jag ganska tidigt att spela musik i olika former och med olika lyckat resultat. Broder Daniel blev mitt högstadium. Gymnasiet tillbringade jag på många olika skolor, Fiesta, The Junior och Augustifamiljen m.fl. Universitetsutbildningen hette Håkan Hellström och heter så fortfarande. Att jag nu ”startar eget” eller vad fan man nu skall kalla det kom väl sig från början av en slump. Att tid och möjlighet uppenbarade sig, jag insåg väl någonstans på vägen att jag sumpat de flesta andra chanser på ett vettigt jobb eller ett normalt liv. Jag sprang på min vän Per Stålberg och vi beslutade oss för några månader sen att försöka oss på ett samarbete.

Därav har nu skivan, New African Sports, Soul Café Club No # 1 tillkommit.

Inspelad i Wellfare Sound och Svenska Grammofonstudion i Göteborg under sommaren och den tidiga hösten med gamla och nya vänner. Musikaliskt drar sig låtarna åt ljud som influerat och inspirerat mig genom mitt liv, Allt från George Jones till Swervedriver, från Chet Baker till Radio Birdman osv. Per och jag letade under stenar och uppe på tak efter rätt musiker för rätt låt och försökte få alla låtar att vara tillräckliga för att kunna stå var för sig. Under albumskapandets tid utkristalliserade sig dock en samling kufar som kom att spela på fler och fler låtar och har nu formats till en formidabel enhet som jag stolt kan kalla mitt band. Herrarna kommer från vilt skilda platser, en del från H.C. rörelsen, en del från reggaen lite noise och en hel del slö-rock. Huruvida detta hörs eller ej på musiken lämnar jag till någon annan att bedöma.
